Meanwhile, back at the lab...

Meanwhile, back at the lab....... the mad scientist had donned her safety glasses,

buttoned up her lab coat,

and was ignoring the ethical reasons against cloning as she frantically tried to remember the secret ingredients to reproduce Bug.

As the watched pot started to overflow with legs and other buggy bits,

the almost done Bugs were delicately placed in the high-tech laboratory oven for the final stage of the cloning process.

Deemed a success, the OBVIOUSLY mad scientist celebrated her Bug-cloning success with an evil laugh.... wahahaha wahahaha

Now seriously, can you spot the difference?

I'm hoping my baby boy can't if his beloved Bug is strategically swapped due to a much needed wash or a mysterious disappearance (aka "Where the hell is his bloody Bug?")...!!!

You're unbelievable. And definitely mad. The coat and glasses are very becoming. The bugs are brilliant! (Mental note, next time I give a kid a 'transitional object', make sure it's one I can replicate quickly and cheaply).

Oh and your boy looks so sweet! I guess they all do when they're asleep...

Interchangeable 'must haves'..Genius! Can you clone a monkey and a knitted rabbit called 'Albi' please? Love your specs too - they speak volumes. Peta

Ingenious. Cloning the favourite toy... wish I'd throught of that one.

We have a disgustingly grey-looking duck called Quackie (and another equally grubby one called Chloe) who need a sneaky trip to the laundry... buggered if I can be bothered making new ones, though.

From Doctor B Cardigan to Professor Mad B Cardigan .....NOW I can 't wait to see the next one!!!!!Thanks for including appropriate PPE Nikki your little OHS officer seem to be quite relax that your cloning task was Safe and successful!!!I am surprised that the photos are not blurry from whoever took the photo laughing too much!
Soooo Madly funny, clever and cute with the sleeping baba in the end...My Elsa had a dummy too and your "sitation"sounds so much familiar (excuse my french!)!!!I ended up cloning the dummy back then too :) x

May I suggest the sneaky swapping of bugs , so that each has the same buggy smell (I know this sounds daft, but new toys just don't smell liked loved ones)

Not only are you a genius, but you also have fabulous comedic talents!
My nephew has the same problem with his "Rabbi" which is manky rabitts head attached to a blankie!

Mad, really suits you Mrs (I like the specs). Hope for your sake, your bug swappery works. I thought I had things sussed with the purchase of two spare 'Hester' bunnies. Aha! I thought. No, No, said the wee one. Apparently it's all in the smell for her. The stinkier the better. I know. Ew.

I concur with Jodie: This is brilliant, but it'll only work if you keep them on a regular rotation. Good luck in your next Mad Scientist Scheme....

Such a funny post and a great idea however I have to agree with Jodie and Tania, the smell is all important, swap while he is asleep perhaps, and then maybe he will know but just let it slide since kids always appreciate a mad experiment and will humour their scientist mums prepared to do them. You are crazy. Love it

Those glasses are hella sexy... I must get myself a pair.

The bugs look awesome, are they a terry towelling? They look like they would be fun in the bath.

PS: You really are one wacky chick (but that is a good thing!).

We have a 'blankie' in this house, I bought a second one so I had a spare. Why I didn't think to just cut it in half and hem it is beyond me....

I love your Bugs :)

Thanks for such a fun post. Good to see you are using your time wisely! I love the bed bugs. Are they your own design? Oh and what a cute little snug as a bug in a rug son you have too. Thought about cloning him? I have no little boys at my place...

Cloning. Ha! Very funny post!

Great to see a sense of humour, a sweet, sleepy baby and a clever design in one post! I'm soooo jealous. What am I doing with my time? :))

I've just sat down with a cuppa to finally catch up an overflowing blog reader. I'm glad this was the first post I opened - you're hysterical Nikki!

What a great idea. I fear there may have been scientific mix-up though. You realise that when the Roslin Institute presented their cloned Dolly, that she was a mammal and not a softie, right?
