Loads of Fishes Slouch

So many of us make beautiful things for others..... and it's easy to forget that we deserve beautiful things too.

This is my new bag. The pattern is the Small Slouch from Nicole Mallalieu and those gorgeous fishes are a Thea & Sami design, Loads of Fishes*.

It's the perfect size to take everything you need for a night out with good food, good conversation and an amazing person sitting opposite you.

Hey.... why don't you make something for yourself? Go on....

*I'm sorry Thea, but those fishes are way too beautiful to be drying dishes!

Why is it that we always sew for others first?
All I ever sew for myself seem to be dodgy prototypes!

Having seen the trés elegant small slouch up close, I can vouch for it's trés elegance. And you have prompted a sideways glance at those three bits of summer-skirts-for-me fabric stashed to my left...

Your blog icon caught my eye. I have to agree - your bag looks way better than a kitchen tea-towel!

You have no idea!! I totally made myself something today and it fits and I made it from scratch and I can't wait to share it... But I need to show some flesh...hmmm... Love your bag and your right it looks the perfect size for all things Nikki!! So happy to see you making something for yourself.

btw... what ever happened to your doll that was being hung out to dry... the 'chuckie' look a like? hehe

Very nice. I have started a list of "things for me" and "things for the kids" since I am usually making things for everyone but us. I'm hoping I'll be good about making at least a few of those items this year. Time will tell. ;)

It was extremely interesting for me to read this blog. Thanks the author for it. I like such themes and anything connected to them. I definitely want to read a bit more soon.

Sincerely yours

Super sweet bag Nikki! Yay for making something for yourself. Your so right, that fabric is much too cool to be a tea towel. Hmmm... what should I make for myself....

:)

Thanks for the reminder to make for me. Something that I realised never happens around here. Your bag is perfect for a date with the man or a friend. How good does it feel to go out with a small bag instead of one with nappies, bibs, changes of clothes etc?! x

You are absolutly right - one should do that more often...

Lovely bag - I like the fabric - if only we had such great fabric like that here...

Love the bag - and you've definitely inspired me to give the pattern cover an updated picture.

It's a rather lovely bag! I really like those fishes too. And it's a very good reason for going on dates - now you've got the bag you really need to use it as often as possible! x

That's such a cute little bag, Nikki. And you are so right, it is silly that we always first seem to sew for other people and in the end often don't have time anymore to sew for ourselves. I'm guilty of that too. It's not only sewing for others that gets in the way, it's also the feeling I first have to iron, do laundry, clean the kids room, etc etc. You taught me a lesson today: I am going to sew first and then see what time I have left for the laundry! :-)
