I have been struggling with my blog and blogging for a while now. Working out how it fits in with all the things I want to do and want to be is challenging. But rather than stop blogging, I have decided that My Black Cardigan is going to be my holiday house..... a place I love to visit, where I get to catch up and visit friends, and where I can leave the day to day life behind.
But even though holidays are wonderful, there is no place like home. Home is where the heart is, where my heart is. Home is where I am needed more at the moment and it is where I want to be.
But I am going to leave my suitcase packed so that whenever I have some time, I can grab my bag and head on down to my holiday house. See you then xxx

Awww. I've been missing you... but this is a great way of describing how your blog is going to function for you (and for your readers) from now on.
Thinking I should take a bit of a leaf out of your book and keep working on the balance. Because one glass was broken and the living room has been strewn with parts of hot cross buns while I've been blogging this arvo. Hmmm.
And dang, how cute is that little scenario?!
Ditto to everything Gina said!
And for the record, while Master 3 thought I wasn't paying attention this afternoon, he took a chair to the front door, got the key, unlocked the door and asked his 4 year old brother to run around the garden.
Reading and writing blogs is fun, but sometimes (frequently?!) there are much more pressing matters ...
Have missed you Nik but happy to hear you will be popping in xx
Hey there, I haven't experienced this personally but I know that sometimes when you go back to the same holiday house over and over you get to know the community and it's great to return there and hang out with your 'holiday house' mates. I will happily be your holiday house buddy. Good luck with the balance- life is made up of seasons, some seasons it seems easier to balance things than others. Enjoy your people, they are right there, real and give you proper hugs and kisses- (()) xx!!!

will be looking forward to when you pop in Nikki! My mojo for blogging definately waivers, sometimes I really enjoy it and other times it just doesn't feel like I will even keep it! xx
Aww Nikki. I am glad you have an eco friendly car to come and visit whenever you feel the need to. I know I will miss you Hun as you have been a big support for me. I can only imagine how many others.
Family comes first and I think sometimes we become slaves to world wide web and forget that they are there. We can always rely on the real people who can touch us every day and we need to be tuned into that!! Good on you for seeing that!! I hope the balance comes back and can smile every day.
Big Warm Mushie Snuggles and a Hot Cuppa REAL coffee Babe...( why does it feel like I am saying goodbye for ever??)
xo Steph
Nicely said. I'm glad that you are going to continue blogging. See you at the holiday house...
I love your little person waiting by the car with her bag packed. She looks happy and content and really, that's all we would wish for you too! We'll all be here x
I'll miss your more regular posting, but I totally understand your position. I've really enjoyed reading what you post about your twins especially, since they're so close in age and the same sexes as mine. It's always comforting to know that someone else is going through the same things I am.
Enjoy them :-)
Sniff. It hasn't been at all the same without you, so I'm chuffed to bits that you'll be popping back now and then for holiday adventures (and thank goodliness I know how to find you). Sniff.
I think we sometimes feel that having a blog is more of an obligation than it really is. The whole idea is an online personal diary, which means that we're free to do it on our own terms (read: post as frequently or infrequently as we like, respond to comments or not...be involved in memes or awards or not).
I hope you arrange your holiday house in a way that is nice and comfy for you, and look forward to a postcard whenever you're in the hood.
Nikki, Blogging shouldn't be a chore or another thing on the list of all the crazy stuff you already have to do.
Your blog - your way ! Once a week, once a month or just as it strikes you.....
I'd rather see you infrequently than never !!!
I am happy to be the sand in your bathers whenever you feel a holiday house is needed.
Hope the 2 gorgeous souls are happy and well
xx
Want a beautiful way to think of blogland! Very happy for you and your family. Looks like you are going well with your balance. I, however, miss you and hope that you do visit often. Hope you have a safe and happy Easter xox
I totally understand. I have been through so many seasons of back and forth, sometimes having the time, sometimes realizing I just don't. Blogging should always be something you can enjoy but not an obligation, so I think you've got it just right. Good luck balancing it all, and I'll see you when you get a holiday!
I've missed your blog, but totally understand. I'll keep checking in. I wish you happiness at home!
I'm more than happy to jump in that car and head to the holiday house with you whenever you're ready to go. Just say the word.
I've been questioning my own use of blogs as well. I like your holiday house idea and look forward to waving hello when you visit!
I'm thrilled to be your holiday buddy. Take care & much love to you and your mob.
I will miss your posts but look forward to seeing you when you do pop in, and in person too.
You have big plans for your family that will require alot of your energy. They are blessed to have you. Enjoy the journey. Happy to catch up when you have the inkling to jump online. x
I've been missing you....but am glad that you are making changes to find that elusive balance.
See you next holiday :-)
You got me thinking....I see many of my bestest friends only when on holidays. Some friends I see only every few years. The time between visits doesn’t dampen our friendship - it just means we have bloody good holidays :-)
Will miss you and your adventures. Enjoy your 'break' at home! Looking forward to reading posts from the holiday house.
Yes, we love to see you but enjoy your time at home. Home is where the heart is. xo m.
We'll all lovely holidays together!
Take care Nikki. Blogging is a funny old business, no need to make it take over more of your life than it should.
great idea Nikki, I like your holiday house idea.
you know what, when it becomes too much then it's not really fun is it.
miss your posts but know that your family needs you & am happy to see you in person instead.
hope the holidays have been good & hope to see you on thursday
♥
Good idea, taking the pressure right off. The way it should be.
I have to often remind myself that it's my blog and I shouldn't feel obliged to make it a chore.
xo
great post nikki. you summed it up perfectly. i will keep popping in and if you happen to be 'on holiday' then we can share a cuppa and a chat. it certainly is a balancing act and i think you have the priorities spot on right
Power to you Nikki.
Home is where the heart is & where you are most needed.
I shall look forward to a stroll along the beach with you every now & then.
I know what you mean Nikki!
Hey, my bags are packed and will meet you for a holiday sometime - when the wind blows the right way...I am there!
(It does happen) Take care xx
I like the way you presented it very clever Nikki you are!The most important is YOU and your happiness, good on you!Looking forward to your little holidays breaks too :)
Very interesting, my blog is a reflection of my life & my husband loves that he can 'visit' when he needs to catch up on us (he's in a war zone) so i got back into blogging for that purpose!! It's also a nice escape, like the highlights of each couple of days. Love Posie
Hoping the balance is working out for you. More than happy to catch up on holidays (what fun!).
Been thinking about you the last week and wondering how you are...
Hi Nikki,
Hope all is well with you, I've been meaning to pop back forever to say this was a very heartfelt post & I hope home life is going well....or OK....or that at least some sleep is coming your way!
Angie
Loved meeting and chatting with you today at Stitches
I've been feeling the same way- but am throwing myself right into it again. Or at least that's the intention! I hope to see you back here again. :o)
Thats a nice analogy Nikki. Hope to see you holidaying some time soon. :)
Only because I'll miss you being around. Take care of yourself and family
Just wondering if it's ok if I use the spare room in your holiday house , I won't make much noise .
I hope you are doing well .
