Ready to play in the sun

It's all about hats, hats, hats round these parts at the moment. After making sure my friend's girls are ready for the sun, I finished off hats for my two kidlets.

Using Nicole Mallalieu's Kids Hat pattern again, these are made using lightweight denim with a band of fabric on the crown that matches the fabric used for the brim lining.

I've almost finished another two hats for a friend's kids and while I'm almost hatted out for this Summer, I can see my sewing skills have improved.... which is great for the next project....

So. Damn. Adorable!

I have been meaning to make the Punk a had since.... September maybe...?! Can't see it happening any time soon though.

I will just have to admire (and I do!) your hat action instead.

So bloody cute!

PS: What is the secret for getting them to stay on their heads?

Ooooh, the next project? You are a craft machine! The hats are super sweet. I think one hat would have me hatted out, so I think you are doing extremely well to have done, what, 6 hats? My goodness. Craft machine. :)

I need to put some ties on Cohen's hat to keep it on because it is now a game to pull it off and throw it out of the pram. Hmmm. Fun for me.

Oh my word, how cute are those?! No chance of your little tykes getting even a skeric of sunburn under those hats. Bloomin' gorgeous.

Oh, and sorry for hatting you out... eek! But I was hatted out even THINKING about trying to construct them. Brave soul. Heh heh.

I really like the denim idea with the fabric band.

The thing is, it doesn't matter how gorgeous your projects are, have them modelled by your two munchkins and we're all eating out of their hands!

Wow, you ARE a clever girl. Not only have you made GORGEOUS hats, but you have managed to get them on to two children's heads and photograph them TOGETHER. I am very impressed.

I so have to buy this pattern, but then perhaps I shouldn't because everyone tht does seems to get obsessed with hat making. These are soooo cute

The hats look great - I love the fabrics you chose. I'm working on a hat for Jack that has been unpicked no less than 4 times. I just figured out I was trying to stitch the crown to the brim instead of the band (derr).

gorgeous kids, gorgeous hats ... once again. You are a very clever milliner, Nikki and your choice of fabrics is perfect. The kids should be wearing these next summer as well.

Sorry ,... I omitted to mention the clever hat pattern-maker ... good on you Nicole!

Aha I see the means of keeping the hats on their heads - very clever ties under the chin.
THey look great Nikki, I love things with denim.

Another pair of beautiful hats. The denim is very cool. I have Nicole's pattern here too, about to break out of the packet and turn into a brilliant hat (maybe it will be sitting there waiting for me when I wake up tomorrow after a good nights sleep?). Lovely work mad hatter!
